Mathematics Major

NOTE: Where the 2013 requirements for a programme differ from those previously published, care will be taken to ensure existing students are not disadvantaged.

With a good mathematics degree you will be attractive to employers in a wide range of occupations, not just those directly using Mathematics. This is because your degree is a demonstration that you have problem-solving skills and clear analytical thinking.

Additional Notes

COMP103, COMP104 and STAT111, STAT121 will help satisfy these requirements and are strongly recommended in their own right. These papers also help students keep their options open for changing to another major with the Faculty if desired.

†† These ten point papers may be replaced by COMP235.

To be eligible for entry into the honours programme, candidates will require an average grade of B+ in at least 80 points at 300 levell in Mathematics papers.
