Staroffice is availible for use on all linux machines. This is a fully featured office application with the ability to read and write Microsoft document formats (although we would encourage users to use the native StarOffice formats where possible).
StarOffice 7 supercedes OpenOffice 1.1, therefore OpenOffice is no longer required and will eventually be removed.
To use StarOffice type 'soffice' in a console, or if Gnome is your window manager it can be selected via the Gnome applications menu.
The first time StarOffice is run it places setup files in your home directory. The StarOffice setup directory is '~/.staroffice/'. The '~/.sversionrc' file contains the versions of StarOffice configured. If you experience any problems running StarOffice try moving these files and running StarOffice again.
