Depending upon the age of the printer you are printing to, you may encounter failed print jobs, with the only text on the printout being a SetPageDevice error. This is common when the program tries to send level 2 postscript to a level 1 postscript printer.
If this happens, you need to alter the postscript level associated with the printer you are using from within OpenOffice. To do this go to the File->Printer Settings menu and click Properties. Select the Device tab and alter the postscript level to 1.
In order to make this change permanent you should make these changes from the Printer Administration program. You can access this through the OpenOffice menu in KDE or GNOME, or you can use a terminal and type: /usr/local/OpenOffice1.0/spadmin. In the window this opens up, choose the Generic Printer and follow the instructions above. |
